Prize Drawing - Free R&E Creations

Free Goodies from our Studio
We are starting a new R&E give away including completed  one of a kind items, our custom patterns and of course everyone favorite, fabric. The prize drawings will be once a month for the rest of the year. So for the next 3 months just leave a comment saying enter me in the give away and your name is in the fish bowl. When a winner is selected you will be notified and given a choice of prize. It will then be shipped to you. This is our way to say thanks for stopping by our blog and Etsy shop. We are planning on launching our web site next year and will continue our customer appreciation with give aways and discounts.

At this time we are going to limit this give away to the US,
but next year we plan on adding lots of international areas.

The Last Min Rush

Getting Ready For Shows
When you are working on building inventory for shows you seem, or at least I do get so involved in the creative process you sometimes don't remember all the little things that need to be done for each item to be completely finished. The business side of the art and craft world isn't the fun part for me, and I have a tendency to put it off till the last. With the fall season in full swing and so many craft shows it's time to get all the little stuff done. I was surprised at just how long it took to just get labels and price tags on everything. Then we have 2 new items this fall and had to work out the display for our booth.   You need all kinds of little graphic stuff and I have to make myself sit down at the computer and get that done. Below is our t-shirt design and our 2x3 ft. booth sign.

Then there is that hand sewing. I'm really bad about putting that off. Went out to visit Paula Saturday and took it all with me. So glad I got it all done! Whew.

And speaking of getting ready, it's crazy at how fast Christmas is coming up. I must admit I put the counting tree on this blog to keep myself on top of things. I have several good size projects not even started yet that need to be done by Christmas.  Should have a non traditional wall hanging finished in a few days. It's my first piece with woven fabric. I'm excited about getting it finished.

The woes of a fabric junkie

I have several different types of fabric I am always keeping my eye open for.  I'm putting together a stash of pig fabric for a quilt and I'm also trying to find a large panel, borders and general Olivia The Pig fabrics.  Oh that's 2 pig quilts.  Well I like pigs.  But with putting my little piggies aside the most space in my studio is taken up by oriental fabrics.  Oh I wonder if they have oriental pig fabric?  Just kidding.  It's a sickness.  I sit at my little computer and look at fabrics on line and rush to them in stores as if they were life lines.  My friends give me fabric as gifts and I give them fabric. We're all junkies I guess.

But then you know how that is, yes you do admit it.

All quilters have that one or two types of fabric that they just can't pass up.   Every one has that one chink in there armor.  You set limits in your mind to try to talk yourself out of buying any more fabric, but sadly it never works.

At one point in time I said that fabric was the new paper for me, but I truly don't think I was ever this bad with paper. I did get a good deal of new oriental fabric recently and felt like I just had to make something out of it, rather than just taking it off the self from time to time and petting it.

Finding The Perfect Fabric

The hunt is as much fun as the capture!

We went to a total of 4 fabric shops hunting down the perfect fabric
for the borders of our current project the baby clothes quilt.
If you sew you know how that can be.
The quest is overpowering to find the fabric that is just right.

After looking at the shops close by my house we determined we would make the sacrifice to drive down to Franklin and visit the dangerous to my wallet Quilters' Garden. It's not that they are over price by any means, they just have such a huge selection that I can NEVER  just get what I went in there for. There is always several things that just end up going back home with me. Yes, I'm a fabric junkie, I'll admit it. Paper used to be my ruin, but now it's fabric, not that I've stopped buying paper.

So after over an hour in this wonderful shop we are looking over some of the last racks and we stumble onto a great find. The owner of the shop had the first machine she purchased in there. This wonderful sweet pink brother. I went to the counter at once and asked if I could take photos. It seemed to be in perfect condition too. Just too sweet.

Well a wonderful day of fabric shopping, what could be better.
Now I have to go find a place to put all my new treasures.

Oh yes, if any of you see any pig fabric when you are out shopping please let me know.
I'm having a hard time finding many different types. - Thanks
